How to Brew the Perfect Cup with an AeroPress

The AeroPress is one of the easiest ways to make a genuinely great cup of coffee at home — fast, forgiving and easy to clean. Here's our simple recipe for a smooth, balanced brew.

What you'll need

  • An AeroPress and a paper filter
  • 15g of fresh coffee, ground medium-fine
  • 250g of water, just off the boil (around 90–94°C)
  • A kitchen scale and timer (optional, but they help)

Any of our specialty coffees work beautifully in an AeroPress. We grind to order, so simply choose the AeroPress grind at checkout — or pick whole beans if you have your own grinder.

Step by step

  1. Rinse the paper filter with hot water, then add your ground coffee to the AeroPress.
  2. Start the timer and pour 50g of water to wet the grounds. Give it a gentle stir and let it bloom for 30 seconds.
  3. Pour the remaining water up to 250g total.
  4. Insert the plunger slightly to create a seal, and wait until 1:30.
  5. Press down slowly and steadily — it should take 20–30 seconds. Stop when you hear a hiss.

Tips for a better cup

Always grind just before brewing, keep your water off the boil, and stick to a roughly 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. If your cup tastes sharp or sour, grind a little finer; if it's bitter, grind coarser. Small tweaks make a big difference.
